Gigafactory Texas on 7 May 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
Great day to fly at Giga Texas! Weather was perfect, activity was going on everywhere, and so much progress to see! Multiple construction sites now to watch and document, but it makes for some fun flying and videomaking as well!
In the introduction and overview, we discuss several detailed photographs of area we will see in the video, with additional information and narration.

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- On the west side of the highway, we see the continued construction of the large foundation (progressing to the north). We see what appears to be the beginnings of a road that travels from the far southwest side, under the bridge, and to the main factory area on the east side of the highway. We also see a lot of water pipe being both stacked around the site as well as being installed in large trenches. Finally, many of the hills have been flattened and ponds removed.
- South of the large water detention pond, more pond removal, fill dirt application and what appears to be the east part of the road that goes to the west side. There also appears to be a large road heading north on the west side of the foundation. It is possible this is where trucks and finished vehicles will travel to and from both sides of the highway.
- The SW footing area of the
main foundation is getting the perimeter grade beam constructed on the west, angled and south sides. Some deep footings are also being constructed on the east side of this area.
- The big excavation pit just south of the paint shop is dry and has 12 large footings being constructed. Also, many concrete water vaults are stacked just to the south of this pit, suggesting they will be installed once the footings are finished. The purpose of this area remains a mystery for now.
- The West steel structure continues a methodical growth to the south, and more concrete wall panels are being installed on the west side. The cargo loading docks are beginning to take shape and there are two levels or bands along the west side that appear to be where windows will be installed.
- The battery cell structure has now reached the north perimeter grade beam and is rapidly finishing the steel skeleton structure! More concrete floor pours have taken place and overall, it appears that only a few more days of vertical construction remain on the skeleton structure!
- The Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) system installation continues on the west side of the paint shop, and more materials are being delivered to both floors at the north side. Interestingly, one of the roof tall vents was removed today, possible to be replaced with another one stored just to the north.
- The casting machine area still waits for concrete parts and columns to arrive which they also continue work assembling the second casting machine. Roofing materials continue to be stacked on the roof for future installation.
- The east structure is getting green walls on the west side and many more concrete exterior panels on the east side … interestingly, another band appears to be where windows will eventually be installed on the east side.
- GeoPier work on the east foundation has begun today, while work is underway in what appears to be an effort to widen the foundation to the west. The rain pond is quickly drying up.
- The new land clearing on the far northeast side continues, growing larger towards the east and south.
- The rain pond south of the electrical switchyard is now dried up. Work on the Harold Green road relocation just south of this area continues, now extending under the powerlines and all the way to the highway access road.
