Gigafactory Texas on 15 May 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
A good morning to fly at Giga Texas! No Cyber Truck sightings but we do see several completed test castings stacked inside the casting machine structure! Hard to tell for sure dur to distance and lighting, but these may be front castings, which, if true, would be the first made at any Tesla factory! Hopefully, we will be able to get better images in the near future!
In this video, I have adopted a new style with both the introduction and the areas filmed. I’m doing this because the size of the construction site, and the activities are too much to adequately cover in a single video. For today’s flight, we will concentrate on the main facility and the original phase I site area around the main foundation.

Highlights form today include:
- The NW cornet battery cell structure is now beginning the next phase of construction because the steel structure shell is now completed. Roof and floor decking is being installed rapidly, and additional fitting out work is underway. We also see on the west side, a large grouping of roof rainwater management pipes exiting at the perimeter grade. There are also some large pit excavations on the ground floor and concrete slabs on the ground floor being created.
- The west structure, also known as the general assembly building, continues growing to the south, now reaching as far south as the stamping machine structure on the east. More concrete wall panels on the west side have been installed and windows are being stockpiled in preparation for installation. On the east side, the column footings adjoining the central area are being unburied and prepared for additional work to allow for columns and building a structure in this currently open area.
- The “alleyway” between the battery cell and paint shop structures continues to see work on the Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer installation and we look into the battery cell structure and the General assembly structure.
- The large excavation just south of the paint shop is now getting small trenches filled with a mud base in what appears to be preparation to install the concrete water vaults. About half of the column base mounts are poured with concrete, while the remainder are getting forms installed. A bit farther south, footings are being constructed, further indicating a structure will be built here, closing in this currently open area.
- In the casting machine structure, we see what appears to be about a dozen completed test castings, stacked in the center of the structure near some columns. Giga Press #1 appears to be in an operational state, with several electronic cabinets with flashing lights indicating continued testing was in progress. Giga Press #2 is in the assembly states. More aluminum ingots were being delivered today via trucks.
- In the east parking and contractor trailer area, we see a lot of large HVAC components arranged into a single area. The parking lot is about ¾ filled, which is a rather good amount for a Saturday early morning. The former robotic assembly machine storage area continues to shrink in size and number of storage containers.
- At the south end, the large water detention pond continues to be filled in with dirt on the east side, now reducing the total size by about 25%. It appears more fill will continue to be added, possibly indicating a plan change and to add more room for a roadway next to the main structure. Also, more work on what appears to be a road on the west side, heading north along the general assembly structure and south under the bridge and to the west side.
