Storms & 9K Giga Press Assembly Accelerates! 18 January 2023 Giga Texas Construction Update(08:35AM)

Gigafactory Texas on 18 January 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start!

Stormy day with some interesting clouds, strong gusts and microbursts roll through Giga Texas during my drone flight! Despite these challenges, we see a very busy site, many interesting details, and some amazing discoveries!

Perhaps the biggest news is the accelerating assembly process of the 9,000-ton Giga Press inside the west bay of the casting machine section!

In the video introduction, we discuss the challenging weather conditions over Giga Texas this morning and some of the changes to the flight path of the drone I had to make. Also, we discuss four interesting areas with detailed progress of interest.

First, we look at the changes to the new southwest parking lot, with markers for parking spaces and now white tents for the shuttle bus stops!

Next, we look at the changes and progress at the west main entrance, where we see crews preparing more test concrete forms with different colors of concrete in the landscaped area old lot. In addition, crews were working on electrical conduit in the new trenches in the cleared ground area in front of the glass doors.

Over on the east side, we see crews preparing to dig up and relocate some large oak trees near the old house located just to the north of the warehouse on wheels (WOW) Yard. I don’t know if there is some significance to this tree (or other trees in this area), but they are taking great care to move these trees.

Also on the east side, near where the trees are being prepared for relocation, crews are busy trenching near the temporary lined pond. This appears to be where blue water pipes will be installed and eventually allow connections from the water main lines over to the battery cathode plant and other structures in this area.

Here are a few other highlights from today's video:

We see more robots being delivered at the northeast corner of the casting machine structure, near where a growing number of stacked castings are being stored. This is also near where the 9K ton Giga Press is being assembled inside.

On the east side of the Body-in-White (BIW) structure, where new receiving doors have been added, we see one of the new concrete aprons has now been poured, while two other sections are ready for rebar to be installed ahead of more concrete pours. Also, a little further south of these new receiving docks, we see what appears to be several new and large openings made in the exterior walls, near where the stamping machine and BIW structures meet. There is a lot of activity, materials and equipment being moved around this area as well today.

At the new Die Shop structure, we see steel assembly continues at a rapid pace, now making the structure twice as large as it was a few days ago. Also, now all of the footings have been at least excavated, with others in various stages of construction, including mud bases, forms, rebar installation and concrete pours. We also see more roof decking has been installed, while preparations over the densely packed reinforced piers for what looks like large foundations are underway.
