Gigafactory Texas on 26 February 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!

Another very busy day, and I talked with some on-site personnel and got a lot of interesting new information. One tidbit is that Elon had a conference call with the contractors working Giga Texas and one of the (not-surprising) topics was accelerating the work to make up for lost weather time, to include a push for more 24/7 operations. We also confirmed that the construction just south of the old plan is in fact, the electrical switchyard/sub-station.

Here are some of the many highlights from today:
- The company installing the switchyard/sub-station just south of the old plant is Saber Power, a Houston-based company that specializes in Turnkey solutions for power substations, power system design, purchasing, substation design, substation construction and testing and commissioning
- The two west steel structures continue to grow together while the south perimeter grade beam gets prepped for more rebar, forms and then concrete. More concrete floor pours are underway in this structure as well, but using a new (non-Martin Marietta) contractor, which is an interesting development.
- We see just on the west side of the paint shop the water containment vaults being installed and what appears to be a water collection pathway from the roof directly over these vaults ... could be part of the roof water management system
- It appears that some kind of operational testing of the casting machine was underway today, although there was a large tent-like material blocking the views. You could hear loud sounds and lights flickering inside the material.
- On the south stamping machine structure, it appears framework for large rollup loading doors/bays are being installed and more of the concrete ground slab has been completed. More wall panels are being erected using cranes than have had sections of their truss structure removed to reduce their overall height.
- The east (Body-in-White) structure is having excavation work done on the ground floor while other areas have had the slabs poured on both the ground and second floors
- Over 4,000 GeoPier pilings have been installed in the northwest corner area and today we found out that in addition to 4680 battery production in this area, they will also process Lithium Hydroxide for the cathodes here as well.
- We also find out that over the entire site, more than 100,000 GeoPiers have been installed! This is many times more than the 28,000 that were part of the original design! This was due to the extremely poor soils caused by the old gravel and sand mining that was done in this area over the past several decades. They have also determined that some more are needed under the west steel structure to further support the foundation, so additional machinery that can access this area will be needed.
- On the far east side, we now see that many of the moved trailers belong to Yates, one of the three General Contractors for Giga Texas. More materials and supplies are being stockpiled in this area as well.
- On the north and east of the foundation, we see more of the fire water loop being installed and also, some plumbing work has started on the north near the paint shop and extending south into the main factory foundation area
