W & S Expansion! Megapack Site Growing & Entrance Changes! 8 May 2023 Giga Texas Updates (08:15AM)

Gigafactory Texas on 8 May 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start!

This morning was not too bad to fly, with low ceilings, a little mist, but light winds and diffuse lighting for most of the video. We see some new earthwork areas on the west side of the highway, now connecting the new clearing area on the south with the material staging area on the north. It appears more earthwork to develop this entire side of the highway may now be underway.

In the video intro, I discuss the upcoming Shareholders meeting, my 7 May Megapack deep-dive video and progress on the Megapack site this morning, with many observed changes and continued conduit installation. I also discuss the west side earthwork and graded section changes. Finally, I discuss the progress on the south end graded area that will allow for the building extension. This includes showing the more than 100 GeoPiers already completed and the Continuous Flight Auger Pile progress on the southeast corner of the stamping structure.

Additional highlights and details form today flight include:
The west side of the building shows many new developments, including the removal of the shiny steel nitrogen tank that was supporting the 4680-production area. We also see a new exit for Model Y's, using a temporary black steel ramp just north of the main entrance. There were about a dozen Model Y's here, and I saw at least four drive out of the building at this location. Perhaps this is a new exit point? Unsure and will need to monitor in the future.

The west main entrance continues to see a lot of work, particularly with concrete pours, landscaping, and work to prepare for the stainless-steel cladding on the steel "tunnel" sections emanating away from the glass main doors.

Crews continue to apply the white concrete wall stain along the entire front (large) window sections, and at least one window has been removed near this area. Farther south, the temporary loading platform was busy, with more materials and what appears to be a fan unit of some kind being hoisted up and moved inside where the windows had been removed.

The south end grade work seems to be nearly completed, while GeoPiers have now added well over 100 piers in the middle area of the graded section. On the east side, just south of the stamping machine structure, more Continuous Flight Auger Piers are being constructed.

The horizontal drilling near the south bridge continues, and more work is visible on the south bank of the Colorado river.

The Megapack construction site is a hive of activity, from more trenching, conduit installation and red concrete conduit topping being applied under the power lines and extending past the south end of the Megapack site itself. Related to this, the berm on the northeast side of casting continues to be widened, plastic sheeting has been applied to prevent rain erosion, while more conduit installation takes place. This connects underneath Tesla Road to the conduit being installed near the Megapack site.

Near the Die Shop and the temporary lined pond, we see more trenching and conduit installation, progressing towards the west and now under the road to the Martin Marietta batch plant. This will connect to the Megapack conduit installation, bringing power to the Die Shop and Battery Cathode plants.

The Die shop exterior wall installation on the west side continues, and the deep foundation is now surrounded by some poured final ground slab, while other forms for the perimeter grade bean and rebar sections for ground slab await further concrete pours.

The Cathode plant east side shows the 7-story tall, assembled platform with equipment now has steel cable tie downs anchored into the trapezoidal concrete ramp. This is likely a temporary setup until this platform can be moved inside and installed.
