Starship visits Giga Texas & Two-Week Catchup Flight! 24 April 2023 Giga Texas Updates (07:35AM)

Gigafactory Texas on 24 April 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start!

After two weeks at Starbase watching the preparations for SpaceX to try and launch Starship for the first time, and checking out many areas and sites around Starbase that aren't normally seen, meeting lots of great people and ultimately seeing the Starship launch, I've returned to Giga Texas and I brought a piece of Starship back with me!

In the two weeks I was gone, a lot of changes have occurred around Giga Texas, so I tour many of the key areas and tried to capture as much video as possible to help both me and you, the viewer, get caught back up to as many of the developments as possible. In the video itself, I'll do a lot of talking to both inform the viewer what I'm seeing and help me as I get caught up.

There are some interesting highlights to go over today:

Work on the west side clearing near the contractor parking and West WOW Yard, including the application of Geotextile membranes.

The west main entrance continues to transform with steel structures emanating out from the glass doors, very reminiscent of the plaid badge, and more concrete & landscaping work underway. The tall glass windows are covered with protective plastic (and more being applied) to continue the white stain application on the concrete walls.

The southwest corner has another section removed along with a new temporary loading platform being assembled. The south end shows a lot of grade work and dirt fill deliveries as crews prepare for construction, and on the southeast side, deep pier drilling is underway.

On the east side, just south of the sedimentation pond, a large section of trees have been removed and earthwork is underway, possibly to extend the east material staging and parking area. Farther on the east side, the large clearing that has been turned into a partial material staging yard. north of the east WOW Yard, we also see more materials being staged and three long lined of new Model Y's temporary parked.

The battery cathode plant west side chiller loop structure shows large Matheson Nitrogen tanks with condensers, likely part of the overall cooling systems being assembled. Many other detail changes at the battery cathode plant are observed as well. North of the cathode plant, we see more earthwork to remove the large hill and further work on the grade in the large clearing area.

The Die Shop shows many more wall panels installed, rood final weatherproofing and insulation installation and concrete poured in the large and deep foundation on the west side. On the south end, there appears to be a mezzanine-like structure being installed in the center bay, while on the east side of the building, the large yellow crane is installing more wall panels.

The electrical switchyard assembly looks completed and the perimeter fence is also nearly completed. In addition, all of the high tension wires appear to have been installed and crews may be close to being ready for the initial application of electricity.

The megapack construction site has many new trailers and materials in a fenced-off section.
