Gentle Neck Stretches

Tight neck and shoulder muscles are often a source of pain. This gentle stretch session focuses on loosening up your neck and shoulder muscles and includes a short warm up. It is ideal to combat tension caused by sitting activities when you're hunched over like working at a desk, cooking, or knitting. It can be done seated or standing and requires no equipment.

These stretches can be done in any order and at any time of day. We recommend doing two rounds at least three times a week.

1. Chest opener - 15 seconds
2. Shoulder rolls - back & forward : 4 reps each
3. Shoulder shrugs - 5 reps
4. Head tilt - right & left: 15 seconds each
5. Look up & down - 15 seconds each way
6. Look right & left - 15 seconds each
7. Bear hug - right & left: 15 seconds each
8. Chin to armpit - right & left: 15 seconds each
