Rock and Roll Lullaby - B.J. Thomas 1972
"Rock and Roll Lullaby" is a 1972 release hit single by B. J. Thomas that reached #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song was composed by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, one of the most successful pure songwriting teams in modern history, whose work has often been described as "a soundtrack to our lives". Well-known guitarists Duane Eddy (lead) and Al Gorgonion (rhythm) provided acoustics with background vocals by The Blossoms, Dave Somerville of The Diamonds, and "Beach Boys-sounding" session vocalists for the chorus. Although B.J. Thomas has recorded several other well-known hits, he once stated this was one of his favorite songs. He has won 5 Grammy Awards, multiple gold records, been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and recorded at least 62 albums to date.
