Heard It In A Love Song - The Marshall Tucker Band 1977

"Heard It in a Love Song", by The Marshall Tucker Band, was their highest charting single reaching #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977, and remains their best remembered recording. The Southern rock flavored song was written by the band's lead guitarist Toy Caldwell who didn't read music, and played by ear. Upon renting a warehouse in Spartanburg, S.Carolina for rehearsal space, they found a key in the door with the name Marshall Tucker on it. Not realizing the name referred to an actual person, they liked the sound of it and adopted the name for their band. Tucker, the previous renter, was a blind master piano tuner....There is an excellent cover version of this song by Mark Chestnutt.
