Little Darlin' - The Diamonds 1957
"Little Darlin'" a cover version by Canadian quartet The Diamonds in 1957, reached the #2 spot on the U.S. Billboard Chart. The song was originally recorded by a group called the Gladiolas. The Diamonds recorded more than a dozen top forty hits in the late 1950's and early 1960's and are noted for recording covers of R&B hits by other artists. This was a common practice in the record industry during the American Doo Wop era of that time. Launching their career in the basement of a church in Toronto, Canada, they were one of the best in the business and were instrumental in introducing R&B vocal group music to the wider Pop music audience. Their version of "Little Darlin'" song appears in the movies "American Graffiti" and TV sitcom "Happy
Days"
