Remember Then - The Earls 1962
"Remember Then", recorded in 1962 by do-wop vocal group The Earls, was a moderate successful hit pop song that reached #24 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has since become widely used by rock and roll revival acts and remains well known for its chorus. Based on a simple collaborating comment "remember when" (the original pre-released title of the song) by music co-writers Tony Powers and Beverly Ross, the song basically wrote itself. The Earls are one of New York City's do-wop success stories. Unlike today's hyped reality talent shows, the group was discovered singing on the street corner in front of subway station. The vocal group took the late 1950's do-wop street corner harmony sound, and refined and expanded it for new pop audiences. Today, The Earls are one of the most requested groups in that oldies genre.
