Jerry Lee Lewis - Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On 1957

Released in 1957, Jerry Lee Lewis's version of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" reached #3 on the Billboard pop chart, #1 on the Billboard R&B chart, #1 on the Country chart, and made Lewis an instant sensation. Nicknamed "The Killer" and viewed as Rock & Roll's first great wild man, Lewis radically altered the original version of the song with his over-energetic boogie piano style showing that in the new emerging genre, not everybody was going to stand there with a guitar. His version of the song is ranked #61 by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the greatest songs of all time, and it was selected for permanent preservation in the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress. Credited with a dozen gold records in both rock and country, several Grammy awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, Lewis was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and has been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. As of 2014, he is the last surviving member of the "Million Dollar Quartet' that included Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Carl Perkins.
