Gingivitis
Gingivitis is a mild bacterial disease that affects the gums. Due to poor oral hygiene, a sticky substance called plaque, which is a mix of bacteria, develops on the teeth and produces toxins that irritate the gums. This leads to inflamed gums, irritation and bleeding and bad breath.

Food groups to consume in gingivitis:
1. Fiber: Keeps teeth clean and stimulates saliva production
Foods to consume: Apples, pears, guava; and vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, radish and bell peppers
2. Calcium: Maintains healthy teeth
Foods to consume: Milk, curd yogurt, cottage cheese (paneer), soy, pulses, finger millet (ragi) and sesame
3. Vitamin C: Strengthens immune system & gums
Foods to consume: Oranges, Indian gooseberries (amla), kiwis, peaches, melons, pineapple, and vegetables like spinach, bell peppers, tomato, cabbage, broccoli and peas

Recipes based on the above food groups:
Recipe 1: Salad
1. Add 1 cup yogurt in a bowl
2. Add 1 tbsp finely chopped carrots in it
3. Now add 1 tbsp chopped cucumber
4. Also add 1 tbsp chopped yellow bell pepper and 1 tbsp red
bell pepper each
5. Now dice an apple
6. Add it to the mixture
7. Finally, add ½ cup diced pineapple
8. Mix all this well
9. Add salt and pepper to taste
10. Chill this salad before serving
Recipe 2: Vegetable wrap
1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok
2. Add 1 tbsp ginger – garlic paste
3. Saute for 1 min
Now we are going to add vegetables in the wok, we will start with:
4. ½ cup broccoli
5. 1 diced onion
6. ¼ diced bell pepper (you can use any color bell peppers
here)
7. ½ cup sprouted beans
8. Stir this well and
9. Add ½ cup sliced& blanched baby corns
10. Saute all this for about 2-3 mins while stirring continuously
11. Now in parallel,
12. Take 2 tsp cornstarch and mix it well in ¼ cup of water
13. Add this paste to the wok. Mix it
14. Add 2 tsp sweet & sour chilli sauce
15. Also, add 1 tsp lemon juice to it
16. While stirring, add some salt and pepper to taste
17. Let the mixture simmer till the gravy dries up
18. Remove it in a bowl
We are now going to stuff these veggies and make a wrap. For this:
19. Take a whole wheat wrap and warm it up on a pan
20. Add a tsp of oil if needed
21. Remove and place this on a plate
22. Now add a portion of the stuffing on this
23. Carefully wrap it and serve hot

Tips:
• Avoid sugary & processed foods, soft drinks & alcohol
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day
• Brush teeth twice a day
