Chana Dal Palak (Simple & Easy recipe)
Chana dal with palak/ Spinach (Simple & Easy)
Packed with the nutritional rich Chana Dal Palak (Spinach Dal) is seasoned & sautéed in ginger, garlic, tomato, dry spices,
and makes a very comforting meal with a side of rice.
Ingredients
-11/2 cup chana dal (soak for 2 hours)💥split chickpeas lentils.
-1/4 tsp hing/asafoetida
-1 bunch palak/spinach leaves
-1 onion chopped
-1 green chilli
-1 ginger & garlic paste
-Spices:1 tbsp biryani masala, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder,1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp garam masala powder, 1/2 tsp fennel seeds.
WASH & CUT SPINACH
-Soak palak/spinach in a fru wash solution for 5 minutes then rinse in fresh water 2-3 times
-Chop finely
SOAKING DAL💥
You can wash the dal by putting it in a colander and then washing it with running water. Now add the dal to a pressure cooker and fill it with water add water, salt, turmeric, asafoetida
Let the dal remain soaked for 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the type of dal.
Soaking lentils also reduces its cooking time. It also brings prana (life) into the legume
-Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles
Allow to pressure to reduce naturally
-To Check dal by pressing with your fingers whether dal is cooked are not.
-Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds allow to splutter
-Add chopped onion, green chillies stir until onion turns golden
-Add ginger and garlic paste stir till raw smell disappears
-Reduce the flame add dry spices stir for a second add tomato purée sauté until raw smell disappears from the tomato
-Add cut spinach stirring for 5 minutes and close the lid and cook until wilted, This process will take a few minutes.
-Now add cooked chana dal stir and mash few dals at the same time allow to simmer for 5 minutes add butter Adjust the taste
-Enjoy with streamed rice
