First All-Woman Spacewalk: Koch & Meir - BCDU Replacement - U.S. EVA 58
Edited NASA TV footage of U.S. EVA 58 aboard the International Space Station (ISS) (@Space_Station) on October 18, 2019. Expedition 61 NASA astronauts Christina Koch (@Astro_Christina) and Jessica Meir (@Astro_Jessica) performed the spacewalk, the first-ever all-woman EVA.
The objective of the EVA was to replace a failed Battery Charge-Discharge Unit (BCDU) with a spare unit stored on the extrior of the Space Station. The two were also able to perform get-ahead tasks including the installation of a stanchion on the exterior of the European Space Agency (ESA) Columbus laboratory module that will house the Bartolomeo platform for commercial payloads.
The time-lapse portion of the video is at 10 or 30 times normal speed.
Music: "Be So Good They Can't Ignore You (Epic Background Music)" by Fearless Motivation Instrumentals is from the album "Sounds of Power, Volume 6."
