Briefing: New Solar Array Installation Partially Completed: U.S. EVA 74 - Pesquet & Kimbrough
Edited NASA TV footage of the briefing for U.S. #EVA 74 aboard the International Space Station (#ISS) (@Space_Station). The EVA was performed on on June 16, 2021. Expedition 65 ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet (@Thom_astro) and NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough (@astro_kimbrough) performed the #spacewalk.
This EVA was to install and deploy the first of six new IROSAs (ISS Roll Out Solar Arrays). These new arrays will augment the power generation capability of the Station.
During the EVA, Shane Kimbrough's suit display ceased operating, neither displaying information nor relaying telemetry to the ground. Kimbrough was instructed to return to the airlock, where his suit display could be rebooted. Due to the loss of time, the EVA was unable to completed as scheduled. The #IROSA was secured in place, awaiting the next EVA to complete its installation and deployment.
