Sugar, We're Goin Down - Fall Out Boy - Drum Cover by Keith B.

I need to admit two things upfront: 1) I don’t particularly like this song, and 2) I had to cheat using my double kick on all the 4 kick-beat passages. I got the idea to do this after hearing a local cover band perform it, and I thought the main beat the drummer was playing was cool. I then went home and listened to the original song on YouTube and heard more elements in the drum part I liked, so I figured why not cover it (even though I don’t particularly like the sung melody or the singer’s voice). Andy Hurley’s drum part has a lot going on with cool beats, some interesting transitions and fills, interesting kick placement during the two quite passages, and a very cool (and hard to pick out) tom-beat passage. This was Fall Out Boy’s first charting single, hitting #8 on Billboard’s Hot 100 back in 2005, and their second highest charting single ever (only exceeded by 2007’s “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” which peaked at #2). The song has gone 4X Platinum. A fun one to play.
