Killer Queen - Queen - Drum Cover by Keith B.

“Killer Queen” is the first Queen song I remember hearing on the radio back when it was first released. I got inspired to cover it after hearing a Queen cover band at a local festival a week ago. As with my cover of Foreigner’s “Cold As Ice” several weeks ago, this is primarily a pretty basic drum part, but with some subtle niceties. There are lots of breaks (often on the half-beat), use of double stroke rolls, and one “big fill”. Here the big fill is part of a crescendo, whereas in “Cold As Ice”, it comes out of nowhere. This was Queen’s first hit single, peaking at #12 on Billboard’s Hot 100. A fun quickie.
