Manfred Mann on HMV and Fontana Records, 1966-7.

A video about the rock group Manfred Mann during 1966-7, a transitional period for the band in which they switched record labels from HMV to Fontana and underwent several personnel changes. Singer Paul Jones left to pursue a solo career and the multi-instrumentalist Mike Vickers embarked on a diverse musical journey of recording, production, orchestration and arrangement, including a collaboration with The Beatles. Joining the band at this time were vocalist Mike d’Abo and, briefly, bassist Jack Bruce, prior to forming Cream with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. Bruce was replaced by Klaus Voorman. In 1966 the band scored their second UK no.1 with the song Pretty Flamingo, plus a string of other successful singles which continued into 1967.
