Georgie Fame and The Blue Flames. Rhythm & Blues at The Flamingo LP (1964)

A video about the debut long player from the respected keyboard player Georgie Fame, together with his band The Blue Flames, who had started out as the backing band for the Liverpool rocker Billy Fury, and had supported the likes of Marty Wilde, Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran as part of Larry Parnes’ stable of pop acts. When Billy Fury replaced his band with The Tornados, Georgie Fame took over as frontman of The Blues Flames. This first LP was recorded live at the legendary Flamingo Club in Wardour Street, Soho, featuring a classy selection of songs covering traditional blues, beat music, jazz, soul and rhythm and blues. Influenced by ska and calyspso, they were also one of the earliest British mainstream acts to incorporate a Caribbean sound in their music. I hope you enjoy the video.
