Comparing Piriformis Stretch Exercises: Risk And Benefits

Piriformis pain and sciatica are common... and disabling!

This leg pain that you feel can be due to a compression of your sciatic nerve, either due to a herniated disc or to the piriformis muscle.

When the piriformis muscle is involved, the buttock pain is easy to recognize.

Stretching exercises can be part of the treatment, but there are many ways to stretch: supine, standing, sitting, etc. Here, we'll discuss the differences between stretching supine and stretching standing, and how to choose between both.

Remember: stretching should NEVER cause pain. Hence, don't stretch too far, don't cause damage in other regions of your body, beware your stability and hold the position for 1 min. ---

Pain in the back, shoulder, arms or any other musculoskeletal pain should not govern your life.
