Harpia harpyja - Harpy Eagle

El Águila harpía es una de las águilas mas grande sobre la tierra.
Un indidivduo de esta especie puede medir 1m desde la cola hasta su cabeza y cuando abre las alas puede alcanzar una extensión de 2.20m! Se alimenta principalmente de mamíferos arboricolas, entre los restos de sus presas en Misiones, Argentina se han encontrado tamandúas, comadrejas, coaties y monos!

En este video les queremos mostrar algunas tomas hechas sobre el individuo de Aguila Harpía que aparecio recientemente en el Parque Nacional Calilegua, Argentina. Un ejemplar majestuoso que desde su primera observacion en 2017 por Americo Vilte, ha generado mucho revuelo tanto entre aficionados a la ornitologia como en Parques Nacionales por lo inusual de su registro. Siendo tal vez la primer evidencia de su presencia en las Yungas Australes Argentinas, con un previo reporte sin evidencia de C. Olrog.
Hay quienes afirman haber visto/escuchado a dos individuos. Sin embargo nosotros solo registramos uno. Cabe destacar que realizaba vocalizaciones con el pico cerrado generando la sensacion de que algunas voces podrian provenir de otro sitio, algunas de estas vocalizaciones pueden apreciarse en varias partes del video.

The Harpy Eagle is one of the largest eagles on earth.
An individual of this species can measure 1m from its tail to its head and when it opens its wings can reach an extension of 2.20m! It feeds mainly on arboreal mammals, among the remains of its prey in Misiones, Argentina were found tamandúas, weasels, coaties and monkeys!

In this video we want to show you some shots taken of the Harpy Eagle that recently appeared in Calilegua National Park, Argentina. A majestic specimen that since its first observation in 2017 by Americo Vilte, has generated much commotion among the birdwatchers as well as in National Parks institution for the rarity of this record. Being perhaps the first evidence of its presence in the Argentine Southern Yungas, with a previous report without evidence of C. Olrog.
Some claim to have seen/heard two individuals. However, we only recorded one. It is important to point out that it performed vocalizations with his beak closed generating the sensation that some voices could come from another place and some of these vocalizations can be seen and heard in several parts of the video.
