Dippers are members of the family Cinclidae, they are remarkably among songbirds for their aquatic lifestyle. Rufous-throated dipper is found in the southernmost portion of the Yungas. During winter the move towards lower elevations. Its distribution range is quite limited, and it is considered as "vulnerable" by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Los mirlos de agua son miembros de la familia Cincliidae, son únicos entre los passeriformes por sus habitos de vida casi acuáticos. El mirlo de agua de garganta roja solo se encuentra en la porción más austral de las Yungas. Durante el invierno se desplazan a menores altitudes. Su rango de distribución es muy limitado y esta considerado como "vulnerable" por la Lista Roja de especies en peligro del IUCN.
