Gigafactory Texas on 24 August 2022! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!

Thunderstorms and rain not slowing the progress at Giga Texas, with both production ramping and construction progress everywhere you look!

In the introduction, I discuss airspace and helipad operations and hos this might affect drone flights at Giga Texas. I did this because of the number of questions and comments I’ve received on my previous video and frankly, to correct several “news” social media sites that have offered some misleading or flat-out wrong information. I hope my high-level discussion will be helpful and informative.

I also have had some sources confirm that Giga Texas is making over 200 Model Y’s daily and over 500 castings daily as well. Each car needs a front and rear casting, so this indicates the production rate of castings is slightly higher than production of cars, and both are ramping up to support even higher levels soon!

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- Cargo bay expansion on the south end of General Assembly continues, with 19 new bays saw cut into the concrete walls, while other crews continue to prepare the cargo levelling/loading mechanisms to complete the installation. These cargo bays are part of General Assembly production line 2 and 3 construction going on just inside this portion of the factory. Much of the steel stored on the south material staging location is being used inside constructing mezzanines and platforms.
- Additional cargo loading apron reconfiguration is underway further north in the initial General Assembly 1 area north of the main entrance, and this section has several cargo bays with temporary panels which are likely going to be removed soon to further extend the number of cargo bays on this side of the building.
- The number of Model Y’s on the south end parking and transport lot is increasing, but it is not as apparent because the number of transports arriving and loading up Model Y’s is also increasing at a rate of about 200 cars per day.
- On the roof, the solar panel expansion is also continuing bear the “T” of Tesla, working to the south. Today, crews were installing mounts around the vents and exhaust ducts to complete this section of the expanded area, and then will likely start a new section.
- On the east side, we see the new parking lot and helipad fully paved and painted, and the charging stations appear functional as well. The next item to be installed should be the light poles.
- On the east side of Casting, we see thousands more newly produced castings, many arranged on the ground, and a lot more in white racking systems. Two days ago, most of the racks were empty, but today they are almost totally full! On-site sources confirm production of castings is now over 500 daily, just ahead of the Model Y production rate.
- The north electrical substation main construction site is getting a new layer of dirt/rock fill to stabilize the top grade, while recent rains have partially filled the new water detention pond. Just north of the pond, crews continue making storm water pipe trenches and installing the steel and concrete pipes, while nearby, workers are constructing three very large rebar pipes.
- The battery cathode plant progress remains stunning with the speed the crews are maintaining. More concrete spray and insulation on the roof, now covering about 1/3 of the total roof decking, while a mezzanine with steel stairs is being installed on the 3rd floor. Crews are installing rebar for the ground slab, while portions of steel exterior columns have been painted in white flame proofing.
- Finally, the east side material staging grade work and overall reconfiguration continues, and in two large, graded sections, gravel is being applied as the top coating. Some of this is to expand the warehouse on wheels (WOW) Yard.
