The previous three videos in this series of Italy - Visas and Permits Required – Living La Dolce Vita, focused on the following:

(1) applying for the appropriate visa to ENTER Italy; and

(2) applying for your Permit of Stay so that you can STAY in Italy.

So, whether you're applying to enter or stay, and whether it's to work and live, just make sure you....

DON’T LEAVE ANYTHING TO CHANCE!

Whatever situation applies to you, please bear the following in mind:

1. Give yourself plenty of time to get the right paperwork in place.

2. You will still need to have your passport with you at all times.

3. When travelling to Italy from your homeland, take your application forms (including those that confirm your financial capabilities and resources) with you.

Before you do so, take clear physical photocopies in case you need to refer to them if you lose the originals AND also keep copies in digital format so you can download them via your laptop computer.

4. Italian bureaucracy is notoriously slow, so don’t compound any problems that could arise, if you can help it.

5. All of this information is liable to change for any number of reasons.

The EU is encountering some significant challenges, one of them being the probable exit of the UK from the EU.

What impact this will have on UK citizens wanting to live in Italy if the UK does leave the EU remains to be seen.

Since the end of the Second World War, Italy is well-known for its own numerous political upheavals, changes and elections, so its immigration and residency rules and laws will always be liable to change.

Plus, if the UK leaves the EU, will Italy follow suit? Who knows, but the point is this:

all of the information in this series of videos is to be TREATED AS A GUIDE only, and by the time you read or view this information, certain aspects and procedures are likely to have changed and be out of date.

6. When it comes to you starting the process of moving to Italy on a temporary or permanent basis, we suggest you seriously consider the following:

(1) Undertake your own detailed due diligence; AND

(2) Engage a solicitor well-versed in helping you to navigate the process; AND

(3) Prepare yourself for the Italian bureaucracy.

Finally, good luck, and best wishes for realising your Italian dream!
