Here are those "life" issues to contend with:

1. Voting.

The main points to bear in mind are:

(1) If you’re resident in Italy, you can vote in local municipal and European Parliamentary elections;

(2) You may be able to vote in some UK elections.

There are 2 aspects to this:

Firstly, you can check if you're able to vote by going to the Electoral Commission website here:
https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/overseas-voters

secondly, register as an overseas voter.

As an overseas voter, that is, when you're in Italy, voting entitlements depend on whether you're "temporarily" in Italy, such as on holiday, or working in the country, or resident in Italy.

Check the Gov.uk website for further details, as there are different procedures to follow for Great Britain and for Northern Ireland. The relevant page link is here:

Voting After Brexit.

Not surprisingly, UK nationals resident in Italy will no longer be eligible to vote or stand in national, local and European elections after Brexit.

2. Births.

If your child is born in Italy, you will need to register the birth there, irrespective of whether you're an Italian resident or UK citizen.

3. Death.

If a UK citizen dies in Italy the Gov.uk website has a number of very helpful and practical guides to follow.

4. Marriage.

There are notarial and documentary services for UK nationals in Italy wanting to get married in Italy. Here's the URL link:

For now, Brexit will not affect the right of UK nationals resident in Italy from getting married in Italy.
