Part 4. WHAT TYPE of Property Do You Want to Buy in Italy?
The first thing to determine is if you want to buy a holiday home or a permanent home.
The second thing to consider is if you intend to eventually make your holiday home become your permanent home.
Then, other important considerations include:
(1) Would you prefer to buy a newly refurbished property, where you can literally walk through the door, drop your bags and start enjoying la dolce vita from day one? Or....
(2) Does the appeal of buying a run-down coastal or countryside villa and renovating it, either bringing it back to its former glory, or to stamp your own unique mark on it, appeal more?
(3) Are you being located to Italy by your employer, in which case a functional, low maintenance apartment may be more preferential.
(4) If you’re looking to buy a property as an investment, your search criteria will need to take in the location allied to rental demand, and your expected return on investment.
(5) Other considerations are things like access to local amenities.
For example, if you’re looking to buy a cosy flat in a coastal resort, can you park easily, especially during the holiday season?
(6) Do you have easy access to shops, banks, pharmacists and hospitals?
(7) If you intend to buy a holiday home or an investment property to rent out, is your property within easy reach of airports and the motorway system?
In the next stage in the Italian property buying process, which we'll cover in the next video, Part 5, entitled: The Steps Required to be Taken BEFORE Viewing Properties, we'll cover some of the building blocks that need to be in place, so you're ready to move forward from the moment you make an offer on your first property.
