Horst Fischer (1930-1986) was a German trumpeter, composer, arranger and bandleader. He is considered one of the greatest lead trumpeters of all time.

He offers a touching rendition of the ballad 'Speak Softly, Love', main theme of the movie 'The Godfather'.

'The Godfather' is a 1972 American film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film is starred by Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan and Robert Duvall. It is the first installment in 'The Godfather' trilogy.

'The Godfather' premiered at the Loew's State Theatre on March 14, 1972, and was widely released in the United States on March 24, 1972. It was the highest-grossing film of 1972, and was for a time the highest-grossing film ever made.

Coppola hired the Italian composer Nino Rota to create the underscore for the film, including the main theme, 'Speak Softly, Love'.

Nino Rota (1911-1979), was an Italian composer, arranger, pianist, conductor and academic, who is best known for his film scores, earning the Academy Award for Best Original Score for 'The Godfather Part 2' (1974).

With views from Sicily, Italy.
