Titanoboa (name meaning "Titanic Boa") is a genus of large Boidae that originated during the Middle Palaeocene epoch in what is now South America. As its name suggests, Titanoboa is literally the largest snake of all time, nearly twice the size of today's biggest constrictors, such as the Anaconda and the Reticulated Python. Without question the apex predator of its time and region for almost 10 million years, Titanoboa hunted in a variety of environments, such as swamps, ponds, lakes, rivers, and even along coastal waters.

Titanoboa hunted its prey by infrasound. When hunting, they'd wait for their prey to come closer and - upon locking on prey - Titanoboa strike at the correct moment and attack the prey via coiling around them and squeeze them with such tightness until they died. By then, Titanoboa would devour it whole. Surprisingly, much like the modern Anaconda, whenever Titanoboa was threatened, it could spit out its food to defend itself. Titanoboa was also a considerably clever creature in its own right, enough so to "play dead" to confuse and even lure in its prey.

In addition to possessing a large head equipped with large eyes and a strong bite as well as a powerful coiling force, amazing night vision, and the ability to scale just about any surface - from trees to steep cliffs - Titanoboa was also very fast for its size, able to move at speeds between 20 and 50 miles per hour. Despite its immense size, it was also able to camouflage itself amongst its environment. Coupled with all these attributes, Titanoboa was a solitary and territorial animal, defending its turf even from other Titanoboa. The only time they got together in groups was during mating season.

Reaching lengths longer than a school bus, weighing as much as heavy as 20 adult humans, and capable of eating crocodiles for breakfast, Titanoboa would make the largest constrictors of today look like a garter snake.
