Today we’re diving into the 5 fundamentals of getting abs after 40. These are the tried and true principles we’ve used to help over 10,000 guys lose over 75,000 lbs of fat and get the six-pack they’re working towards.

So in this video, I’m not only going to walk you through the simple action steps to get abs after 40, you’ll also discover the exact resources you can start today to get you going.

The Basics of Getting Abs After 40 (1:00)

First and foremost, we need to focus on getting rid of any belly fat. Because we all have abs. But no matter what we do in the gym, we will never see them if they're covered with a layer of fat.

How to Lose the Belly Fat (1:40)

So, the question really becomes, what's the most effective way to burn belly fat for men over 40? Well, in this video we break it down into a simple 5 step framework.

#1 Sleep (2:00)

Believe it or not, the number one thing we need to do is get enough sleep. We're talking at least 7 hours each night. Because, to put it simply, if you're in a sleep-deprived state, your body starts burning off muscle for energy instead of fat. The exact opposite of what we're trying to do, right? So, we need to get your sleep in check to make sure you're not fighting an uphill battle.

#2 Nutrition for Abs After 40 (2:42)

Frankly, abs are made in the kitchen, especially for men over 40. Our metabolism is lower and we can't afford to spend hours in the gym working off unnecessary calories. So, you need to make sure you're on a simple meal plan that helps you lose fat.

This is not a restrictive meal plan we're talking about. You can still enjoy your favorite healthy proteins, carbs, and fats. But the key is to develop a routine and schedule that works for you and keeps your portions in check.

#3 Daily Activity (5:03)

We're not talking about formal workouts here. We're talking about roughly 30 mins of light jogging, cycling, playing with your kids, or even walking. Committing to a consistent routine of daily activity triggers your brain to stop sending constant hunger cues.

The easiest place to start working this into your daily routine is to have a step counter and shoot for around 7,000-10,000 steps each day. Because the 30 minutes doesn't have to be done all at once. As long as you're getting it throughout the day, you'll reap the benefits.

#4 Abs After 40 Workouts (6:20)

When talking about the best workouts for getting abs after 40, we want to combine 3 different workouts into one. The first one is strength training, the second is cardio, and the third is flexibility & mobility training.

Because of course, we want strength training to both boost our metabolism and build more mass and definition. But we also want to incorporate the benefits of high-intensity cardio for fat burning. And adding the mobility training on top of that will keep you injury free so that you're not sidelined from your progress.

#5 Supplements for Weight Loss & Muscle Building

Once you have the first four fundamentals in place we can start to look at supplements. When it comes to supplements for abs after 40, we're primarily looking at the best weight loss supplements to use.

The first one, believe it or not, is a full spectrum multi-vitamin. And the reason is that efficient fat loss really relies on your body functioning as best as possible. But if you're missing key nutrients and vitamins, you're going to fighting with an arm tied behind your back, and won't see the best weight loss results possible. For that reason, we also recommend adding a vitamin D3 supplement along with some fish oil.

Along with those, drinking some black coffee and/or green tea extract is research-proven to have great weight loss effects.
