TRADITIONAL MUSIC SESSION | Tŷ Coch Caerdydd | ft. Bryn y Fan

Traditional music sessions are back live! But we loved combining traditional music sessions with walks around beautiful Wales and so the series continues.

This traditional music session took place in December 2022 at The Dolau Inn in Mochdre near Newtown, North Powys.

Tunes

1. Difyrrwch Corbet o Ynys Maengwyn (Corbet of Ynys Maengwyn's Delight)
2. Ap Siencyn (son of Jenkin)
3. Tŷ Coch Caerdydd (The Red House of Cardiff)

Fan Hill | Bryn y Fan

We walked up Fan Hill (Bryn y Fan) near Llanidloes in late September 2022 when the water levels of the Llyn Clywedog reservoir below were extremely low after a summer drought. The steep banks of the reservoir were exposed all around, although there were still a few fishing boats on the water.

The route up Fan Hill (about 3.2km there and back) is steep but well worth it for the amazing views of the countryside all around, including Llanidloes and the village of Fan. At the top near the trig point there are 360 degree views for miles including all the way to Cadair Idris to the north. Bryn y Fan is 482 metres above sea level.

There is a convenient car park at the base of the hill opposite Llyn Clywedog reservoir.
