Where was the "Swan Fountain" located? Beshuiskaya Dacha, Alushta
Most of us have seen these wonderful photos with the swan fountain, but not everyone knows where they were taken. Beshuiskaya Dacha was built in Alushta, Crimea, by Tsar Alexander III as a hunting lodge.
It was about 45km from Livadia, in the mountains, with no direct road, which was later built by Nicholas II. This road still exists today, and is appropriately called The Romanov Highway.
Sadly, the lodge no longer exists, nor does the beautiful swan fountain, where the grand duchesses posed happily for photos.
In its place is a state nature preserve.
