Catherine Palace Complex: the Servants' Quarters
The former servants' quarters of Catherine Palace are actually the only original part of the palace complex that survived WWII. Catharine Palace itself was destroyed by the retreating Germans, and had to be reconstructed. Today, the former servants' quarters are used for the museum administrative offices and a charming 27 room hotel called "Ekaterina". I stayed in this hotel on my past trips to Russia, and plan to incorporate the special experience of staying at the palace into our future "In the Steps of the Romanovs" tours. I hope you enjoy this video, where I use "then and now" images to bring you back in time to the imperial Russia.
