Planche Journey at 54 yrs old
Planche Journey at 54 yrs. 4 months training from scratch. Never attempted planche before.
Far from perfect end result (straighter arms needed), but getting there.
Lessons learned, stick to all the progressions and don't move on until they are solid!!
Really concentrate on true straight arm strength and mix the assistance exercises up to stimulate faster progress.
Age is just a number!
You can teach an old dog new tricks :)!
You are Never Too Old to Train!
You Just Have to BELIEVE!

Update as of Nov 2018 - after a year and a half lay off I'm going back to basics to develop true straight arm strength so that I can hold a straddle/full planche with much better from. Will post a new vid when completed.
Update as of Feb 2019. Training was going really well till I changed my hand position on a planche lean (fingers facing back) and tore my distal biceps tendon right off the bone. Now in rehab. Check out my rehab progress starting at:

Update as of 17 March 2019
2-3 weeks since my surgery and things are progressing much better than expected. Check out my continuing rehab progress at:

Update as of 17th April 2019
6-8 weeks and things are still progressing at real rapid pace. Check out my continuing rehab at :

Update as of 12th June 2019
week 15. back to performing tucked planche for time, pull-ups, chinups, ring muscle-ups, first stages of front lever, handstands, pseudo planche, explosive press-ups, heavy deadlifts and more. Pretty much 90-95% there. No longer conscious of the arm being an issue
And just to show I'm not a one trick pony I've even written a book about how I ran my first Marathon at 50 with no injuries using a very easy and simple to follow method and how you can too in my book RUN! found on Amazon at:
