The Cherry Bowls: Turning a Natural Edge Bowl / Turning a Cherry Bowl with Epoxy Resin. It’s a 2-for-1! Or maybe it’s a 1-for-2? 🤔

This project began with one of my first attempts at a natural edge bowl. It was all going so well, at least until I decided to try to get a little cute with the design and add an additional ogee curve. So the beginning of the video is the roughing out of a natural edge bowl.
The second part of the video is of a larger piece of cherry that I roughed out to the point that I could dig out the soft wood where a branch had rotted so I could fill it with resin and carry on. I made a “dam” out of hot glue and some pieces of plastic cutting mat and did a couple of pours with the resin. Because of the curve of the bowl I had to overfill the edge toward the foot so that the resin level would reach the edge toward the rim.

So we’ll just start with one cherry bowl, and finish with another! A two-fer!
