Woodturning: Punky Flame Boxelder - Shear Scraping for the Best Finish

I started this project right before I had shoulder surgery, like the night before I had surgery 🤣
I have a bunch of this flame boxelder - it was a little punky to start with and it is only getting punkier. I used the shear scraping technique to help get rid of the tear out and finished the piece about 6 weeks after I’d started it. I finished the piece with General Finishes Arm-R-Seal Gloss and it’s not my favorite - it took 3 coats of the finish plus Brad’s Sanding Paste and buffing with the Beall Tripoli and White Diamond wheels to get it to a point I was satisfied. Using Brad’s Tung Wax or Tung Honey is much faster, looks just as good, and is food safe so I’ll likely not use the GF again.
