Woodturning a Night Lamp from Recycled Resin Petri Fails
Can we recycle resin petri coasters to make an epoxy resin and wood night lamp? I think we can! This is Part II of the Petri Project
My good friend Myriam from Myriam’s Nature (www.youtube.com/myriamsnature) is the guru for all things resin and alcohol ink, and she has many tutorials on creating some pretty amazing petri coasters by strategically dropping alcohol ink into resin. Most of them are stunningly beautiful, but occasionally they don’t turn out as well as she’d hoped and get tossed in the “FAILS” pile. Since I turn wood and resin, she asked me if I thought I could somehow use these in my projects. I have lots of ideas about ways I might make that happen, so she sent me a handful to experiment with.
This video is Part I of II, utilizing the first method of recycling the resin into something I can reuse. Be sure to check out Part II of this project to see the final product, which I must say turned out pretty cool.
In addition to experimenting with reusing failed resin projects, I also had a go at finishing the walnut lamp base to match the ebony top, and was pleased with the look I achieved there.
