Woodturning: Bowl Inlay - Nested Set of Black Walnut Bowls with Stone Inlay

My friend Jason gave me a big black walnut bowl in October of 2020. I took one half and turned it green, hence The Big Green Monster video.

I didn’t have a coring system yet so I sealed the end grain and set the other half aside until I could afford to buy a coring setup. I bought the WoodCut BowlSaver system and used it to make 3 bowls from the other half of the log.

After coring, the roughed out bowl blanks went into the kiln to dry. In this video, I show finish turning the largest bowl and creating an inlay of stones into the top of the rim. The middle bowl received the same treatment and these two will be a set of nested bowls with a stone inlay.

I used a couple of different products on the inlay, Starbond CA glue to set the inlay in place and Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast to fill the channel and encase the stones.
