Woodturning: Turning A Dragon Egg-Mallee Burl & Resin Underwater Cavern Egg+BBQ Rotisserie Hookup

I’ve been wanting to try a hybrid dragon egg for a while now, and I finally got a hold of some brown mallee burl. I used blue and green mica powders and some blue glitter on the burl surface, forming the “stalactites” and “stalagmites.” I used Alumilite Clear Slow resin tinted with a bit of alcohol ink and Marabu Rainbow (sparkly!) alcohol ink for the water, and coated the whole piece with Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast resin for the top coat/finish.

I also go over how I hooked up a BBQ rotisserie motor to my Laguna 1836 lathe using the 5/8” threads on my spindle (these are normally used for mounting vacuum chucks) and a few bits from the local big box store. Zac Higgins from NV WoodWerks did a pretty in-depth video of how he did his BBQ Rotisserie motor and you can check that out on his channel. @Zac Higgins
