Pileated Gibbon singing - The sounds of gibbons calling in Khao Yai, Thailand

The sounds of Pileated Gibbons singing in Khao Yai NP, Thailand. The song of the Pileated Gibbon (Hylobates pileatus) [also known as Crowned Gibbon or Capped Gibbon] is distinctive series of low-high notes often given by males which ends with a brief phrase of lower-pitched bubbly notes. This call is quite different from that of the more widespread White-handed Gibbon (Hylobates lar) with which it overlaps in range.

Pileated Gibbons are listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List due to destruction of habitat and trapping for the pet trade.

In this video sample Pileated Gibbons can be heard singing in the forests of Khao Yai National Park, Thailand. More examples of wildlife sounds and bird calls can be found on my website https://wildambience.com/wildlife-sounds/
