Fruit Bat Sounds - The calls of epauletted fruit bats at night in Africa

The sounds of fruit bats calling at night in the African bush. The squeaky pinging calls of epauletted fruit bats (Epomophorus sp.) are a common sound at night in many places throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

This recording was made in Kafue National Park, Zambia and the species recorded is possibly Wahlberg's Epauletted Fruit Bat (Epomophorus wahlbergi) or Gambian Epauletted Fruit Bat (Epomophorus gambianus).
