The Journey to Kel-Suu in Southern Kyrgyzstan (Made a new friend!)

After I obtained my special permit at the CBT office in Naryn due to the lake's proximity to the Chinese border, I was ready to visit the extremely remote Kel-Suu. A few checkpoints and many bumpy switchbacks later, I arrived at a yurt camp which became my starting point for the trek. The weather was gloomy and the peaks were in the clouds, setting an incredible mood. The trek was pretty straight forward and when I arrived at the lake I was blown away. I camped next to a Kyrgyz man who seemed to come to the lake for spiritual reasons (spoke no English). I was lucky to have sunny weather on Day 2 as me and the pup headed back to the van where we parted ways after i rejoined Zapat. This was a short but rather eventful journey, and I recommend visiting the lake to anyone who decides to travel to Kyrgyzstan.
