A remote village nestled in a rainforest valley with an indigenous Quechua speaking population, Oyacachi is a hot spring paradise well off the beaten tourist path. With buses leaving irregularly from Cayambe, another tourist free destination, winding dirt roads taking you through high altitude indigenous communities before dropping down into a lush cloud forest with rows of traditional wooden homes. It was a place like I had never been before and would never go again during my time in Ecuador. Oyacachi would soon serve as a base for a long distance thru hike in the days to come, but first I needed a few days to soak up the main attraction! 🇪🇨
