Into the Tian Shan Mountains pt. 2 - I wasn't prepared for this!

My biggest solo backpacking trip during the month I spent in Kyrgyzstan was unfortunately cut short on day 1. I have never in my life turned around on a hike before, and I always thought I'd regret it if I did. In this case, I certainly did not regret it. This was my second high elevation trek after having lived at sea level for 6 months prior to my arrival to the country. Although, if it wasn't for the waist deep snow and the sideways blizzard, I probably wouldn't have turned around a half mile before the top of the first pass. Being alone and unprepared, I was just happy to make it out safely. I will certainly be back to complete this trek during a better time of year.
