Codeine - Frigid Stars (1990) ALBUM REVIEW

After a wave of melancholic indie rock hit the American underground music scene in the late 1980s, a new genre would rise from its remains: slowcore. Influenced by acts like Galaxie 500 and American Music Club, several bands would latch onto this lethargic brand of indie rock as the 1990s unfolded. One of the first bands to take this genre on, and form it into its own being, was Codeine, who almost entirely shaped slowcore with their 1990 debut album "Frigid Stars". In this video, we take a look at perhaps the most influential slowcore record of all time.
