44871 + 70013 Oliver Cromwell, The Great Britain III, 7th April 2010

One last re-shuffle of this tour saw 44871 + 70013 start from Plymouth rather than Totnes, which must have pleased everyone on board with the prospect of all the S.Devon banks. The longest view of the climb to Dainton is "wrong side" at Coombe Fishacre, with all the problems of power lines and sun direction. This is more than made up however, by a generous view of a full throttle ascent and nearly 180 degree pan. Finally a similar wide view at Woodrow Barton after the water stop at Exeter, but this time, all the conditions are right and the pair are seen in all their immaculate glory in full sunshine. I am sure this will not be the last time we see this pairing, which must have gone down as a huge success.
