When to Start Training with Rings?

As a beginner in calisthenics or just training in general, I recommend developing a base level of strength on stable objects before jumping into a pair of rings.

The rings instability could crush expectations and if you do not have a base level of strength it’ll be much more difficult. This mostly applies to pushing exercises such as dips, push ups, and support holds on rings.

BUT…

You can easily still train with a pair of rings as a beginner using lower intensity exercises, isometric work, and negatives. So if you’re going to use them as a beginner start slowly and don’t jump into the big compound exercises just yet. Spend a some weeks training the basics on stationary objects and you’ll have less trouble on those rings once making the transition.
