Herbs # 01 Basil - refreshing Caprese salad recipe
Hello, everyone! Welcome to our first video on HERBS!
My name is Juliana; I am a food scientist and environmentalist, and I am happy to share this video with you all.
Today we are going to use basil! It is a very known and used herb worldwide. There are several types of basil so that you can be creative, use your imagination and add some distinctive flavor and nutrition in your diet.
It tastes a little spiced, with a clove-like taste, a flowery scent, a little bit sweet a little bit bitter and pungent. Hum, the smell is awesome!
Basil is an excellent ingredient for Italian food, such as tomatoes, sauce, and pasta. It goes well with other sorts of veggies, such as zucchini, eggplant, you can add it to your salad, tofu, and fruit or drink it in orange juice.
In case you don't have a garden in your home, you can store this herb in a jar with an inch of water. For better preservation, you cover the jar with a plastic bag.
Today, I selected a beautiful and natural Caprese salad recipe, very easy and delicious.
We are going to need:
• 2 tomatoes (I have chosen a different sort that I found into my organic market near my home)
• 1 fresh mozzarella cheese
• A bunch of fresh basil leaves
• Salt, olive oil and balsamic vinegar to drizzle.
So first we slice the tomatoes and the mozzarella.
Then we arrange them in a plate, alternating tomato and cheese.
We put the leaves of basil inside the slices.
Then we drizzle the salad with our vinegar and olive oil and salt.
And voilà. I hope you enjoyed being with me today and that you include more herbs into your diet, my friends.
See you next time!
