Woodturning Ambrosia Maple: The Roughin’ & Corin’ Stream of Consciousness Bowl

I have three large maple logs that were cut from a tree that had to be taken down in a National Forest Campground last fall. I believe it is ambrosia maple but until I get into the bowl blanks it’s a bit hard to say if it’s actually ambrosia or just a super cool decay pattern. Either way, it’s good!

This bowl is made from the outside of one half of the smallest log. I also cut a full-width platter blank from this half, and is the same log the Quartersawn Maple bowl came from.

I cored this blank and then sealed end grain of the the roughed bowls with AnchorSeal before I put them in the kiln to dry.
