2023-01-30 Xiao Qi Ji & Mei Xiang ~ Be Still My Heart!

#PandaStory: Xiao Qi Ji and Mei Xiang went outside together into Yard 2 first thing this morning for the first time in a VERY long time. I had no clue how the day was going to go ... were they going to keep them together all day and have them separated at night? Turns out that they were only apart from 11:30am until 1:30pm, such a change from the past few weeks routine!

We had an excellent CO this morning, so you can see Qi Ji pull down the burlap sack & the candy cane enrichment, and Mei pull down the tube treat feeder ... and you can see how well they "share" these items. But OUCH when Qi Ji stepped on Mei's tummy at the 00:36 minute mark! The red Kong and the sack were particularly entertaining to watch as Mei tried to take it from Qi Ji and he'd "steal" it right back.

And they also had a few tussles as is usual these days. One in particular was "familiar", something we hadn't seen in awhile ... Qi Ji pestering Mei indoors in room 2, climbing all over her and biting her. He's so much bigger now and based on the vocalizations, he is hurting her sometimes.

They enjoyed (for the most part) eating bamboo and their sugar cane. And they laid side by side on top of the grotto for a bit ... what a precious sight! And while the lead up to the nursing bout shown at the end of the video is from today, you'll note that the actual nursing bout was from yesterday (the video and audio footage were better). And who can resist that lower lip mustache Qi Ji was sporting afterward! What a precious face!

I have to admit that I threw this video together due to lack of time, and didn't have time to polish/edit it to a more acceptable length. But honestly since I don't know how much longer they'll be together, I'm granting myself permission to post longer videos.
